Fence damaged at stile, wire cut by dog walkers

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 14:27, Tue 16 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8173267.

Hello, I am not sure if this fence at Plaitford Common is your responsibility or if it belongs to the National Trust. I am reporting the issue to both organisations. What three words pacemaker.photos.relocated. Dog walkers have cut the stock netting at the stile to get their dogs through but unfortunately this is allowing pigs to stray from the common onto the A36. Hants police have had to close the road today while the stray pigs were rounded up and returned to the common.

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If the fence is ours, they will arrange for a repair.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
