Flags on bridges

Reported via mobile in the Flyposting (NH) category anonymously at 08:09, Thu 11 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8150205.

Along many bridges crossing the M6 along the stretch I have driven for the last couple of days there are many union flags and St George flags attached to the railings. These are a danger to motorists if/when they become loose and must be removed as a hazard

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about flags.

We have passed this to one of our local inspectors to confirm that this is on our property. Safety is our priority and we do all we can to protect those who use our roads. Items such as flags attached to a bridge could pose a danger to motorists on the road below and so may need to be removed for safety reasons.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
