Uneven surface/ Roller coaster.

The recent repairs to this road are not up to standard, surely.
I travel this road most days, however I will not travel in lane 1 or the near side lane. I’ve also noticed most vehicles tend to do this.
I worry daily about the wear and tear of my car.
As I travel I watch the suspension travel quickly on HGVs it’s frightening to watch it’s that fast. The load and stress those suspension springs and airbags must be under is incredible. I fear for my life somedays.

The recently completed A180 concrete bay replacement scheme is a life extension work scheme. This means that we have had to undertake some interim intervention works to make the carriageway safe from immediate defects and to ensure it remains safe and serviceable for at least another five years. This is before a full reconstruction scheme can be designed and delivered in future years, where the concrete carriageway would be replaced with an alternative surfacing yet to be determined.
For your information, the route is made up of a series of ‘concrete bays’, each around 5m in length and width. The work we’ve completed is individual bay replacement and crack repair, focusing on the bays that required defects to be rectified. Despite this work, we’re aware of some remaining issues in that area.
To address these issues, we have undertaken further work recently to make the route smoother while maintaining safety.
We have instructed our network inspection colleagues to monitor the carriageway and inform us immediately if there is any further work that is required. We will carry out any further work as is needed, with the aim to keep the area serviceable until the main scheme can be implemented.
We’re constantly monitoring safety and quality on this route, as well as customer feedback, and are striving to improve journeys on the A180 wherever possible.
