No pavements or pedestrian crossings to get from Bawburgh or Little Melton to the bus stop in Colney

Reported via mobile in the Crossings that may impact people with a disability (NH) category anonymously at 16:00, Tue 9 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8142863.

Disabled people living in Bawburgh and Long Melton are unable to access public transport as the only buses go from Colney, there are no buses to Norwich from these villages. There are no zebra crossings or traffic light crossings to cross the slip roads, and no pavements on much of the junction, or on the B118, preventing safe access to the nearest bus stop by the woodland burial site. This means disabled people are at risk of being hit by a car when trying to access their nearest public transport. Many disabled people cannot drive, and all of us need to use public transport more to help with climate change. Installing proper pedestrian crossings and pavements at this junction all the way to the bus stop by the burial site, and in the other direction along Watton Road, Stocks Hill, and Green Lane would connect these villages to Norwich without having to set up new bus routes. There could even be cycle parking at the bus stop for those who can cycle.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

If we are able we will incorporate any improvements into planned activity on our network. We plan this work many months in advance so you may not see changes for a considerable period.

Larger changes to our network are developed often years in advance and our Equality and Diversity teams are involved in evaluating each scheme. Your feedback will be reviewed whenever we propose work in this area.

For some of our planned improvements you can search in your region on the Our Roads section of our website. Where consultation is taking place that opportunity will be found here.

    Kind regards
