Temporary Barrier on flyover

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 08:51, Tue 9 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8139870.

On A27 by havant west bound above Hayling island has had temporary barrier and speed restrictions for months. No date on repairs and due to length of time. No traffic sticking to the 50/40 speed limit. So if you try your tailgated very hazardous.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the traffic management equipment.

In some cases we do leave items in place for future use. Some isolated cones may also be in place for a specific purpose that may not be clear to passing vehicles.

On the A27 in this area, a temporary speed limit has been installed until repairs to a damaged parapet can be completed. The reduction in speed is to avoid any further accidents involving the public or any more damage to the parapet. We’re looking to complete a permanent repair at the earliest opportunity.

    Kind regards

  • 3 months later (than the message above), this is still in position with no signs of being fixed. I think it has been here for at least 8-9 months now. National Highways - please can you come and do the repair here so all the bollards and speed restrictions can be removed.

  • Absolutely ridiculous. As the original poster said, due to these roadworks being abandoned for nearly a full year, the majority of people don't slow down. Every time i drive through it there is nearly a massive pile up where one person slows down to 50/40 followed by a procession of cars slamming on their brakes nearly causing a huge accident. It is only a matter of time until there is a serious incident there. Either get rid of the signs or actually fix it, not this indefinite period of limbo.
