Flags here as well

Reported via mobile in the Not working (NH) category anonymously at 10:05, Sat 6 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8127418.

England flags have once again been hung from lampposts on this roundabout.

This is a politically motivated actioned and thus needs to be removed as a matter of urgency.

My understanding would be that nobody should be hanging anything from highway furniture otherwise what is ti stops signs being doused with advertising.

Failure to remove these quickly only emboldened the perpetrators to do this elsewhere generating greater costs for the taxpayer.

Updates

  • These are the people putting up the flags and their Facebook page with videos doing it!

  • Here is the address of the leader of this campaign who has posted videos online of them putting up the flags with posts containing racists undertones.

Can the council confirm that this individual and his associates will be responsible for all costs involved in the removal of these flags rather than the taxpayer

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

Our inspector checked the area and the flags are on local authority light columns, so will be the responsibility of the local authority.

Please contact them to resolve this issue. Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at:

    Kind regards,

State changed to: not the council's responsibility
