Cones and signs that have not moved since the new year

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 21:30, Thu 4 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8121449.

The cones and lane closure has been in place since the new year. I drive down the a46 twice a day every week day and have never seen a single work person or van behind those cones doing any work. In the morning just the one lane being closed adds to the already significant amount of traffic due to earlier lane closures due to hs2. They are located just before the slip road down to the warwick/leek wootton roundabout. Over 8 months they have been there now and to me seems a complete waste of resources and waste of many members of the public time from being sat in traffic every morning.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report.

During the previous parapet repair work, it was found that the connecting plate between the parapet and the crash barrier did not align correctly. As a result, a new plate had to be designed. Currently, the plate design is awaiting approval. Once approved, it will be manufactured and installed on site. Based on current timelines, it’s likely that the blocks will be removed around the end of September.

    Thank you

  • The cones and barrier are still there and have not moved since the end of September, very frustrating. Now due to the HS2 roadworks being completed further up the A42 and lanes reopened all the traffic now congregates at this lane closure
