Paint Some Lane Markings

Reported via desktop in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category anonymously at 06:32, Wed 3 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8111045.

Seriously, paint some proper lane markings in the road works. The originial lines have been badly coverered over and still reflect in the sunlight and the temporary studs are falling off.

I had to swerve to avoid this truck who had drifted out of their line. The current line markings are truly aweful in wet weather.

Who thought this was a good idea?

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. I sincerely apologise for the confusion caused by the overlapping road markings. We understand how important clear lane guidance is for everyone’s safety.

These markings were initially set out to prepare for works being undertaken between junctions 2 and 3 of the M27. I’m pleased to confirm that the project manager has confirmed that the issue of the confusion arising from white lights and temporary “cat’s eyes” in the form of green studs will be rectified to make the lanes clearer and to reduce the reflective glare as we had several reports about this.

Unfortunately at present, we don’t yet have a date for this but we’re working on a solution to make sure the confusing lines are removed to be implemented at the earliest opportunity.

    Kind regards National Highways
