Updates

  • Thank you for your report. I’m sorry to hear about the damage caused to your car by a loose stone on the A21. We understand how unsettling it is when road users are suddenly confronted by debris or loose stones whilst driving. Whilst I can’t confirm if compensation by loose stones would be covered, should you’d like to submit a claim for consideration, please submit a claim at https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-roads/ network-claims/ claims-against-national-highways-red-claims/ Please note that there is no automatic right to compensation. We assess all claims for damage in line with our statutory duty to maintain the network under the Highways Act, 1980. If no breach of statutory duty, or negligence on the part of National Highways is established, we will be unable to pay compensation for your losses. If, after reading the full guidance, you believe you have a valid claim, please complete the form as fully as possible and submit it online. On receipt of your completed form, we will carry out an investigation into the circumstances of your incident to allow us to issue our final liability decision in writing. Once submitted, if you do not receive a response from us acknowledging receipt of your claim within the 21 days referred to in the guidance notes, please contact the claims team via email: redclaims_ccc@nationalhighways.co.uk, or by phone between the hours of 10:00 – 16:00 on 0300 470 3007, option 1 Red Claims.
