Graffiti/ litter and evidence of a small fire in the underpass

Reported via desktop in the Graffiti (NH) category anonymously at 10:27, Mon 1 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8101476.

On several previous occasions racist and offensive graffiti and the painting over of the lights have been reported. There is further graffiti in the underpass and the paint on the lights has not been removed. There are also issues with litter strewn on the floor and a small fire appears to have been started in the underpass with some burnt items observed. I spoke to a team manager some months ago who advised that there would be regular checks/visits. The condition is once again unacceptable, can this be dealt with please.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about graffiti.

We aim to remove or cover offensive graffiti within 24 hours of our inspection.

Non-offensive graffiti is dealt with under planned cyclical works and therefore can take longer to remove.

We will arrange for our local inspector to look at this on his regular safety inspection of this route and they will arrange a suitable solution.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
