Flags on lampposts obstructing drivers’ view

Reported via mobile in the Flyposting (NH) category anonymously at 21:45, Saturday 30 August 2025

FixMyStreet ref: 8096629.

England flags attached half way up lampposts are obstructing drivers’ view of oncoming traffic on an already extremely dangerous junction. This has already nearly caused a serious accident, as a driver turning into Ledsham Rd from the A550 couldn’t see an oncoming vehicle because of one of the flags. They need to be removed urgently before a fatality is caused. Issue present on 30/8/25.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about flags.

We have passed this to one of our local inspectors to confirm that this is on our property. Safety is our priority, and we do all we can to protect those who use our roads. Items such as flags attached to a bridge could pose a danger to motorists on the road below and so need to be removed for safety reasons.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
