Spalling- Small Patches of loss of concrete cover on bridge substructure

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 16:20, Thu 28 August 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8087076.

Hi,

I am on the train from Preston to London Euston and we just passed under a bridge near Stafford (might be this one or the next bridge above the track on the way to London.

I noticed spalling patches of loss of concrete cover where the rebar is exposed on the pier or abutment. Is limited to 3-4 patches (25 by 25 cm I think each) and no signs of rebar deflecting outwards.

Wanted to flag if you wanted to inspect. Thanks.
