Flags on bridges

Reported via mobile in the Flyposting (NH) category anonymously at 08:22, Fri 22 August 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8059187.

When driving from jct 7 to jct10 on M65 someone has attached England flags to all the bridges, I think this was done by the far right movement as part of their anti immigration campaigns so it was very upsetting to see this when driving down the motorway (I don’t know how far down the motorway it extends)

Updates

  • I have also seen this morning same flags ( St George’s) on footbridge over the M6 just north of junction 31. Not only is it objectionable but it is distracting for drivers

  • Thank you for your report. We will inspect the location. Currently, our approach is to leave the flags in place unless they are offensive or cause a hazard. We’ll continue to monitor this and remove the flags when appropriate.

    Kind regards,

    National Highways
