Damage to Boundary Fence from Trees Adjacent to A3 – Request for Inspection and Compensation
Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 15:00, Wed 20 August 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8052167.
I am writing to report damage to my boundary fence caused by trees located directly behind my property, which backs onto the A3 in Guildford.
Property address: 60 High View Road Guildford GU2 7RU
The rear of my garden borders the A3, with only a fence separating my property from the highway land. Several trees and shrubs behind the fence appear to be pressing against it, and I believe their growth is now causing structural damage.
I understand that the A3 is managed by National Highways, and I would be grateful if you could:
Confirm whether the strip of land with the trees is under your ownership and management.
Arrange for an inspection of the trees and fence line.
Advise on the process for making a claim for damage to my fence.
For your reference, I have taken photographs showing the trees leaning against and pushing the fence, and I am happy to provide copies upon request.
Thank you for your assistance.
