Matrix Sign number 7930A completely overgrown

Reported via mobile in the Electronic Sign (NH) category anonymously at 16:32, Sun 17 August 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8036671.

The the matrix sign number 7930A is completely overgrown by trees and bushes from the verge and is totally invisible to traffic. The number of partly and fully overgrown and also dirty road signs on this stretch of M5 is completely unacceptable. Even where verge has been recently flail cut, there has been no attempt to cut back the signs correctly at their bases, or to create lines of sight to the signs for approaching drivers. Please sort this out!

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning the overgrown trees covering the electric signs.

We carry out regular inspections of all our routes and cut the vegetation back where we find that it is limiting visibility of road signs or other traffic. Your concerns have been passed to our maintenance team. They’ll inspect the area shortly and if necessary arrange for vegetation to be cut.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk.
