The section of the bypass connecting to Harts Farm Way is currently suffering from a complete absence of visible road markings. This is not a minor maintenance issue – it is a critical safety and traffic management concern. The markings are so degraded they are effectively non-existent, leaving drivers without clear lane guidance.
As a result, this section experiences daily confusion among road users, leading to:
- Unnecessary congestion and tailbacks, particularly during peak hours. - Frequent near misses and dangerous manoeuvres, as drivers are unsure of correct lane positioning. - Inefficient use of the available two-lane capacity, with vehicles bunching unpredictably.
This situation creates avoidable hazards, delays, and frustration for all road users. Immediate repainting of the lane markings is essential to restore safe and efficient traffic flow, prevent further incidents, and ensure that the bypass operates to its designed capacity.
Given the safety risks and the negative impact on congestion, this section should be prioritised for urgent line repainting.
