Reported via mobile in the Layby/ Emergency Area (NH) category anonymously at 08:07, Mon 11 August 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8006323.
Southbound between Jn 17 and 16 on hard shoulder for approx 500 yds long. Massive amount of rubbish which needs clearing up. Either the remnants of a cleared traffic issue (why not cleaned up??) of, worse still fly tipping on industrial scale!!

As reported there is a large quantity of loose plastic waste on the the left hand side of the carriageway, not for 500yds as stated, but a couple of miles. The amount is not to be understated - if the wind is in the right direction, the amount coming on to the carriageway will mean the entire southbound M6 will need closing. As the cameras will testify, there is an Alan Glendinning Haulage truck parked in the next available refuge with the left hand curtain side open and plastic debris around it - it would point to the waste coming from this truck.
This incident poses an extreme safety risk.
