Tactile cones not working at Pelican crossing.

Reported via desktop in the Crossings that may impact people with a disability (NH) category anonymously at 15:33, Thu 7 August 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7993846.

The pelican crossing tactile cones are not working from either side of the main road on the A49 (from Bullingham lane side to the central island and from Marlbrook road side to the island) on either the left or right hand boxes. they appear to be working on the central island. This crossing is not usable for a local person with a vision impairment or anyone else who may need to use the tactile cones under the Pelican boxes. It is not an audible crossing. The button from the middle of the crossing towards Marlbrook road also does not work properly and seems to be sticking.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

The category you selected for your report, Disability Access, is for future physical changes that we might need to make to our Network, that might aid people with a disability. Unfortunately, the issue you reported doesn’t fall into this category.

As this is a repair I have passed the details across to the relevant team.

    Kind regards
