Sign missing

Reported via desktop in the Damage to Sign (NH) category by David Brimble at 12:38, Tue 5 August 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7981992.

The sign indicating this is a turn for South Hinksey and Hinksey Heights Golf Club has been removed and not replaced. It has been gone for many weeks following repeatedly being wiped out by vehicles hitting it. This is a dangerous junction with a very short slip road off and on, and suffers from regular accidents as a result. Fortunately there have not yet been any fatalities as far as I am aware, just a lot of written off cars! Signage needs to be very good to reduce confusion and increase safety. Please replace this sign as soon as possible.

Updates

  • Thank you for getting in touch and for highlighting your concerns about the missing sign at the South Hinksey and Hinksey Heights Golf Club junction.

I completely understand your frustration, especially given the safety risks you've described. We're really sorry the sign has been missing for so long, and we know how important clear signage is at that particular junction.

I can confirm that this is a job we're already aware of. I've just checked our system and can see that the design work has now been completed. It's currently with our Maintenance and Repairs team to be programmed in for construction.

We’re doing our best to get this completed as soon as possible, and we really appreciate your patience in the meantime.

    Kind regards National Highways
