Pedestrians in extreme danger

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 08:44, Sat 2 August 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7968255.

Footpath gives access to high speed section of A27, central reservation has a gap to allow pedestrians to cross to a non existent footpath. Surface drainage for flood alleviation is an unmarked trip hazard by the roads edge.

Updates

  • Thank your for your report.

Our safety inspector is aware of the location and comments that there's an historic footpath crossing at this point. It is gated on both sides through the fishery north of the A27 and Holiday Par south of the A27. We have many similar crossing points including Bridleways none of which have a history of accidents. As it's a truck road not motorway pedestrians are allowed free access, though would be most unlikely as there's no designated footpaths at the location.

    Kind regards
