Growth encroaching private property

The M2 was built alongside my property. The vegetation on the motorway banking is fast encroaching onto my property. Trees overhanging and roots growing in my garden The trees are also blocking my satellite dish which cannot go any higher. I cannot reach to clear the rapidly growing branches, weeds, nettles and brambles. The noise from the traffic is increasing and the greenery does not seem to mitigate any noise. My house was built in the 1800s, long before the M2 was built.

We’ve a wide network of trees to manage across the south of England and are required to concentrate our efforts on customer safety and tree health within our maintainable boundaries. General growth including tall trees blocking sunlight, leaf fall, seeding or bird droppings aren’t included within these maintenance requirements. For vegetation located away from the immediate carriageway, on land owned by us, we adopt a policy of allowing natural growth unless it presents a safety concern. Only dead, damaged trees or vegetation which is considered a safety risk will be maintained as part of our 3 yearly survey inspection programmes. Should you choose to reduce any vegetation intruding onto your property, then legally you are entitled to reduce this vegetation within the boundary of your property without requiring our permission.
