M6 between M62 & M56

Reported via mobile in the Main Carriageway (NH) category anonymously at 15:43, Mon 28 July 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7944402.

The M6 in both directions between the junctions for the M62 and M56 has large amounts of litter, debris, potholes and standing water in drainage gulleys. This section hasn’t had any preventative maintenance done for some years as the build up and degradation is quite excessive in areas. It would seem a large scale repair and clean up is needed. I understand this is a busy section of motorway etc but I’m sure the work could be done at a weekend or overnight. This section also covers the Thelwall viaduct which is in an appalling state.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about general maintenance. We have an annual cyclic maintenance programme which addresses, drainage, vegetation and litter etc. Kind regards National Highways
