The sign is missing where the westbound A20 leads the roundabout
Reported via mobile in the Damage to Sign (NH) category anonymously at 15:59, Thu 17 July 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7893929.
I’d like to suggest that the replacement says ‘A20 Folkestone, (M20) London, Channel Tunnel, Ashford’ as the A20 runs directly into the M20 and apart from the Channel Tunnel (an unlikely destination when leaving the port of Dover) there is no indication of any towns in Kent along the M20. Please forward the suggestion as appropriate with regard to replacing the missing sign.

We appreciate your suggestion to add Ashford as a new destination. Unfortunately, new destinations cannot be included on direction (flag) signs if they are not already indicated on the upstream Advance Direction Sign (ADS). This guidance is outlined in Local Transport Note (LTN) 1/94, paragraph 4.3.4. In this case, Ashford does not appear on the roundabout map-type sign, which is why it cannot be included on the subsequent direction sign.
Looking ahead, we plan to develop a signing strategy document that will identify appropriate destinations for all junctions across the region. Once completed, this will be followed by consultation with the local authority. However, this process will take time to initiate due to existing priorities and limited resources.
Rest assured, customer suggestions, such as yours, will be taken into consideration as part of any future strategy. Please note that implementing sign changes to ensure continuity across the network will also require additional funding, which may not be feasible depending on the designated finds available.
Kind Regards
