Overgrown and neglected trees causing issues to gardens behind Borrowdale Close in Gamston, NG2 6PD

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 12:34, Wednesday 16 July 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7886099.

What 3 words location: - ///ending.causes.dip. At the rear of my own and my neighbours property there are a couple of mature trees that are very overgrown with hanging branches over my own and my 81 year old neighbours gardens and we are concerned about the branches breaking and falling into our gardens. When the leaves fall off the trees in the autumn, all the leaves fall into my own and my neighbours gardens and this is affecting our gardens and my 81 year old neighbour cannot clear them away. Please could these be reduced in height and the overhanging branches be cut back.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

We only remove trees when they pose a risk to road users, highway assets, or cause a legal nuisance to neighbouring properties by causing direct damage. You are legally allowed to trim back any overhanging vegetation up to your boundary line. If your're unable to do this safely from the ground, you may wish to hire a private contractor to do this for you. For safety reasons, any work must be done from your side of the boundary and not from the highway.

    Kind regards National Highways
