Large weeds growing on & across footpath
Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 18:33, Tue 15 July 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7883083.
This has already been reported months ago but the problem has not been addressed All that has been to date is cutting the verges. If you scrutinised my original complaint, you would realise that the problem is ON the pavement, not along it's edges. The path continues to be a danger & hazard to walkers & *cyclists (*who are forced to use this path as the A46 is far too dangerous to ride along on a bike). There are weeds along much of this track & in some places have grown right across. This is a real trip hazard for walkers & lethal for cyclists because to avoid them can throw you completely off your balance & into the road itself. There are already hazards to look out for on this mile-long pavement such as broken glass & rubbish thrown out by selfish motorists who see the countryside as a dumping ground. This latter problem is not National Highways' responsibility but the continuous problems caused by the weeds obstruction is your responsibility. Forgive me for again bringing up this issue but I'm at the end of my tether as this is an accident waiting to happen & despite reporting this issue here, I have also sent the details to a NH email address 4 times but still no reply. Last year, you did a good job of actually scraping the weeds away. However, this is something that needs doing at least a couple of times during the spring & summer months. The hazards would have been even worse had we had the usual rainfall during the last months. Please, please sort this out before someone gets seriously hurt or even killed. Your inspector needs to cover the entire length of this pavement to appreciate the problems I am referring to. Thank you in anticipation.
