Depressed man hole cover

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category by david charles taylor at 19:57, Fri 11 July 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7864410.

The man hole cover is an inspection chamber used by Wessex Water. When impacted by HGVs there is a resounding "bang" which is highly intrusive for adjacent properties. The issue was reported a few months ago and was "fixed" by Wessex Water promptly and successfully. I can only assume that the underlying support is sinking because the problem has now recurred.

Updates

  • It was fixed by Wessex Water within a couple of weeks. Initially it seemed to be OK, but recently the situation has deteriorated. I will monitor the position and if it gets worse will contact Wessex Water direct now that I have the case number.

    State changed to: Fixed
