There are currently no lights here but very frequently a large queue of traffic builds up on the sliproad, sometimes queueing all the way back to the motorway. The queue is very slow moving as there is a high volume and near constant flow of traffic coming around the roundabout which makes it hard to pull out. This location could benefit from a set of traffic lights to stop the traffic on the roundabout and allow traffic on the slip road to pull out safely which would significantly reduce the queue time.

Thank you for your correspondence to us in relation to congestion at the northbound exit slip at Junction 31 of the M1.
We are aware of the issue, however the congestion is linked to the local road network which is the A57 belonging to Rotherham Council. We work closely with Rotherham Council and meet with them regularly to discuss this issue, and are working hard to identify a solution however any improvement or changes to traffic flows on approach to and around the roundabout will have to be lead by them.
