Risk of major road accident when elderly cross here

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 11:55, Friday 4 July 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7808445.

My 79 year old mother a super keen walker - recently walked the cotswold way from old sodbuy to cold ashton. There appears three ways to cross the A46 a very busy road after the M4. There is concerning safety advice for her and her 70's group saying avoid the "old" route due to unsavory behaviour so she took the new route via Field lane (///restores.copes.prop what 3 words) . This is an extremely dangerous road crossing - compared to the other route which has a half way part to the road making it much safer. In the interest of tourism and no bad press for the area in your future plans could you consider a "half way" island near this area to make it safe for the loads of elderly walkers and tourists from america and elsewhere on the cotswold way.

Its a real risk of someone being killed here because is primiarly older people walking the cotswold way and they are told to use this crossing because of danger at the other one (i assume its some form of youth issue in cars)
