Temporary No Entry signs are obscuring sightlines

Reported via desktop in the Sign Obscured (NH) category anonymously at 22:10, Monday 30 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7788618.

There are two temporary no entry signs that obscure the sightlines for people leaving the village of Upper Harbledown. The sign on the same side as the exit from Wingate Hill makes it impossible to see on-coming traffic. This has been previously reported and I see has been closed. That is not good enough, if officers believe that the no entry signs are necessary, then they need to be permanent signs positioned higher to keep everyone safe.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report.

Our team has visited the site and observed how motorists enter and exit the junction. We also assessed visibility from a driver’s perspective and can confirm that, for vehicles entering or exiting Wingate Hill, neither signage nor vegetation obstructs the view of traffic approaching from the A2 towards Canterbury.

While we understand that residents may find the temporary signs unsightly, they will remain in place until it is determined that they are no longer necessary.

In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the site as part of our regular inspections. Should any issues arise, we will arrange for the appropriate remedial work to be carried out.
