Near East Ilsley

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 19:12, Mon 30 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7787913.

Road works signage has been left up for 3 weeks dropping the speed limit to 50 then to 40 with no work being carried out for the duration the signage has been abandoned. This creates unnecessary traffic on an already busy and crash-prone dual carriage way. Please can the the abandoned signage be collected.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

I can confirm that the signage currently in place relates to ongoing works to install nearside Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS) between the southbound exit and entry slips.

While I appreciate it may appear that no work is taking place at times, I’d like to reassure you that the signage has not been abandoned. It remains in place for safety reasons while the works are ongoing.

We expect these works to be completed later this month, and all associated signage will be removed once it's safe to do so.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in the meantime.

    Kind regards,
    National Highways
