Extensive graffiti in subway making it feel unsafe

Reported via mobile in the Graffiti (NH) category by Alistair Crisp at 09:12, Wed 25 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7760029.

Dear NH,

We are reporting ongoing issues of extensive graffiti and environmental neglect at the M5 subway under M5 by Clay Drive in Quinton. The area is a key walking and cycling link used daily by school children, families, and older residents. However, its condition — including widespread tagging, poor lighting, and visible vandalism — is contributing to perceptions of fear, neglect, and antisocial behaviour.

We kindly request an assessment of responsibility and a maintenance intervention plan. Local volunteers are actively working on a Clean Streets campaign, but this location requires specialist cleaning and may benefit from repainting, lighting upgrades, or design-based deterrents in partnership with your team.

Please advise who best to liaise with on next steps.
