Illegal parking

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 18:03, Wed 18 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7729984.

I have contacted the police and they have told me to report it to you which I have fine I. The past and you sorted the issue however they are now parking again on the pavement meaning people have to walk on a busy road to get by it is dangerous as people with electric scooters or pushchairs also can’t get by

Updates

  • Hello, I live on Brighton Road, Hooley, Surrey. CR5. For the last 3 months this car is constantly parked on the pavement outside which is probably the owners house. The pavement is narrow and the road is a very busy main road. To walk past this car you either have to squeeze past their brick wall or walk on the main road which is dangerous. This would be worse for anyone walking past with children, dogs or a buggy. In fact it would be impossible for a buggy or wheelchair to get past. The address of the owners of this vehicle is 51 Brighton Road, Hooley, CR5 3EG Surely this is illegal? These people have absolutely no consideration for anyone walking past. Please can something be done about this asap?

  • There’s another tread on fixmystreet which is run by the council but the outcome is they apparently have no authority to enforce parking restrictions even with the double yellow lines in place. Police aren’t interested either and it ultimately lies with highways England who also won’t do anything. So the absolute melon of a home owner who knowingly bought a house without parking inconveniences anyone with a disability or pram because of their poor choices in life. Essentially no one cares so should there be accidental damage to the vehicle while you squeeze past then… whoops I guess
