Overgrown hedging obscuring view of a busy dual carriageway

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 20:17, Monday 16 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7719499.

I come out of the Exeter racecourse junction, onto the A38 heading southbound every week and it is getting very difficult to see the approaching traffic coming up the hill due to overgrown hedging. This is a dangerous junction anyway as you have to give way to join a busy dual carriageway, so being able to see properly is essential. The overgrown hedging means often you don't see approaching traffic until the last minute. The issue has been present for several weeks now.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning overgrown vegetation.

We carry out regular inspections of all our routes and cut the vegetation back where we find that it is limiting visibility of road signs or other traffic. Your concerns have been passed to our maintenance team. They’ll inspect the area shortly and, if necessary, arrange for vegetation to be cut.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk.
