Road works

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 13:11, Thursday 12 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7699741.

The road works here which is causing the traffic to use the hard shoulder is really worrying me, I live in the flats next to the motorway and the building is constantly shaking now that the traffic is a lane closer. I’m worried about structural damage to the building as it’s constantly aggressively shaking

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us. The vibration from passing traffic using the hard shoulder is unlikely to cause any structural damage. We value your feedback which has been passed on to the team delivering the works. We’re working to replace the existing steel central reservation barrier with new concrete barriers. The new barrier will improve safety on the M60, but we accept this is no consolation for those living close to the work area. We’re aiming to complete within 8-10 weeks and remove the traffic management in early August (subject to unexpected delays). Once traffic management has been removed, vehicles will no longer use the hard shoulder as a driving lane.
