Tyres and Road comes

Reported via mobile in the Main Carriageway (NH) category anonymously at 18:24, Wed 11 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7695640.

These are littered along the middle barrier on both sides of the motorway from Leeds to Leicester. It has been over two months since the. Police and Highway maintenance vehicles go past them every day as well. It should not take two months to sort out… People are going to crash into them when the wind is strong enough. Some tyres are vertical.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about tyres and road cones on the M1 between Leeds and Leicester.

The area specified is quite broad and if you can provide specific location detail for any particularly large debris items, we would recommend you contact us, and we can investigate this further. You can contact us by telephone on 0300 123 5000 or by email at info@nationalhighways.co.uk.

We’re aware of some large items within the central reservation, and these have been deemed safe to remain until they are picked as part of cyclic closures in July.

Please be advised that our inspectors carry out weekly inspections of the network and if items are ever deemed unsafe, the carriageway will be closed by Traffic Officers and items will be moved to a safe place for collection.

    Kind regards National Highways
