Growth blocking pavement

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 07:29, Wednesday 11 June 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7691629.

The issue is on the A590 at Newland just after the turning for the side road on the left. There is Japanese Knotweed growing and it is now so high and bushy that is blocking the pavement. This means you now have to step out into the flow of traffic on the busy A590. This is also an invasive weed which needs removing by specialist means not just simply cutting back. I did initially report this issue to the local council last year but no action or response was received. I contacted them again this year when the weed started re regrow after winter and they have advised me it is not their responsibility but that of National Highways.
