How about painting chevrons on the approach to merging traffic from m606 this would allow traffic to join and avoid tailbacks to Huddersfield and beyond.

Cant you just turn the signs off, showing one lane shut again with no traffic issues, causing problems in the morning getting to work.

Thank you for contacting National Highways.
We operate a dynamic hard shoulder between junctions 26 and 27 of the M62 which enables us to use the hard shoulder during peak periods. This provides additional capacity to support the flow of vehicles on the M62 carriageway, and it offers greater merging opportunities for vehicles joining at junction 26.
On 1 June, we experienced a technical fault with a hard shoulder monitoring camera on the dynamic hard shoulder between junctions 26 and 27 on the M62. This meant that we were unable to safely open the hard shoulder to traffic, and this led to increased congestion on the eastbound M62.
During the work to restore the camera, further issues were identified and this delayed our progress. We apologise for any inconvenience that this caused. The camera has now been repaired, and the hard shoulder was re-opened to traffic on Monday 9 June.
We do not have any current plans to make further alterations to the merge at junction 26 of the M62. However, we are aware of the need for further improvement at the junction and are exploring options to increase capacity on the westbound off-slip to reduce the likelihood of tailbacks onto the M62 carriageway.
We are sorry for the disruption that you experienced following the recent issues with the dynamic hard shoulder. We will continue to monitor the performance of the M62 corridor in West Yorkshire and will bring forward improvements where it can be demonstrated that they will increase capacity, reduce congestion and enhance the safety performance of our network.
Kind regards
National Highways
