Why is it 50mph?

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7614859.

Why are the gantries showing 50mph restriction on M1 north and southbound for several miles before Jct 34 and now still as I pass Jct 31 when there is absolutely no reason. No congestion. No roadworks. Good weather 9.16am 25 May 2025.

    We’re sorry for any inconvenience or delay caused as a result of this reduced speed limit. Our regional operations centre became aware of a localised issue with Motorway Incident Detection and Automatic Signalling (MIDAS). Therefore a reduced speed limit was implemented. We’re pleased to advise that the issue is now resolved.
