Support posts heavily corroded.

Reported via desktop in the Damage to Sign (NH) category anonymously at 01:06, Saturday 24 May 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7611903.

The large panel directions sign at the top of the London bound on slip has heavily corroded posts. There is also a temporary sign on the on slip, which says 'Temporary Road Surface'. It seems to have been there years.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report. We are aware that the signposts at the entry to the slip road are corroded. The condition has been assessed and rated accordingly, and their replacement is included in our future programme, pending available funding. At present, we are unable to provide a specific timeframe for replacement, as this is dependent on the allocation of designated funds for all assets, which are prioritised based on those most in need.

Regarding the redundant traffic management equipment. We will arrange for one of our local inspectors to investigate this. Where redundant equipment and signs are identified, this will be removed. However, in some cases items and signs will be left in place for future use or for safety reasons.

    Kind regards, National Highways
