A27 Shoreham Flyover surface/section joints issue

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 22:47, Fri 23 May 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7611728.

Recently, every time that heavier vehicles such as vans or lorries travel over the various section joints across the Shoreham A27 Flyover, there is a loud thumping noise - as if the road section joints are uneven. Surely this will eventually damage those joints to the point where that might become hazardous to vehicles or even cause damage to the joints and/or road surface?

Updates

  • I have reported the road section joints thumping noise over the A27 Shoreham Flyover.

  • Thank you for your report which was passed to our team responsible for maintaining our bridges and other structures across our roads in the south east.

They will be arranging for a structural engineer to attend and carry out investigation into the current condition of the joints and arrange appropriate mitigation if required.

Thank you again for raising your concerns.

    Kind regards
