The animal gate is STILL NOT WORKING CORRECTLY

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 09:28, Sun 18 May 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7584294.

It is best the engineer meets me on site as this keeps getting signed off and is NOT fixed.

The gate remains open because it does not close as it did before. The gate previously swung shut (which it must do because of the ponies and cattle in the New Forest which will otherwise spill onto the A36). The entire fence and gate breaks every 3 months because no-one is properly engineering the solution. It requires the fence to be moved 1m further towards Salisbury to allow for a return before the gate post (so users can move through the gate more easily. This would also allow the gate to be moved 50cm towards Salisbury. This would take the hinge of the gate post away from the traffic that keeps hitting it. The fence alongside the catttle grid needs to be re-instated, possibly in stronger 200mm x 200mm posts to prevent the regular destruction of this gate by vehicles.
