As reported kn early FEBRUARY:
50 and 40 mph signs on stretch of road Reported via desktop in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 20:07, Monday 3 February 2025 Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7080651. There are 50 and 40 mph signs on this section (emsworth to havant A27 west) of road for no obvious reason, it is incredibly dangerous to do these speeds as 99% of drivers are ignoring these signs.
There have been no roadworks here nor repairs for months. The carriageway on the other side has had the signs removed so the central barrier must be sound. Most drivers ignore these signs so the small number of cars doing 40 in fast moving traffic are at risk.

Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the redundant traffic management equipment. I appreciate your concerns and frustrations with the speed restrictions, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you. It’s never our intention to inconvenience road users on our network unnecessarily.
On the A27 in this area, a temporary speed limit has been installed until repairs to the damaged parapet can be completed. The reduction in speed is to avoid any further accidents involving the public or any more damage to the parapet. We’re looking to complete a permanent repair at the earliest opportunity but we do not have a date for this at present.
Kind regards National Highways
