Speed limit on place for system test for many weeks/months

The electronic signs on the new gantries on the M25 around junctions 7, 6, and 5 are showing speed limits of 50 or 60 for system testing which seem to have been in place for months now. Esp when the road is empty and clear this seems strange and unnecessary.

Updates

  • Between junctions 5 & 6 the speed limit is never anything but 50 except when there has been an incident. How long does it take to complete some very basic "system" tests. It seems the only thing being tested is road user's psuchology, patience and gullibility. Can we have an end date on this ?
