Gate and Fence Damage from New Forest to A36
Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 12:36, Wed 7 May 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7534063.
The gate and the surrounding gate posts have been damaged and the fencing has been damaged between the A 36 and the New Forest and the gate is now in an open position and does not close automatically.
This happens quite a lot of the time and the gate posts need to be set back from the road so they are not hit when traffic hits the fence which goes alongside the cattle grid.
The fence on the opening side of the gate needs to be moved further back so that this can happen.
At the moment there is a real risk to animals escaping onto the A 36 and causing accidents and damage to themselves and others.
This is the 4th time that the gate has been damaged in the last 12 months and I live 100 metres from the gate and would be prepared to repair the gate on a contractual basis through my company to enable costs to be reduced if this is of interest. We carry full public liability employers liability and professional indemnity insurance.
