Graffiti on signage

Reported via desktop in the Graffiti (NH) category by Victor Davies at 16:16, Tue 6 May 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7530096.

There has been graffiti on the large signage above the A27 carriageway (eastbound) for several months now. I see that it was previously reported in November 2024. It is also on most of the chevrons on the exit bridge over the A27 towards Holmbush Shopping centre.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report.

We're aware of the graffiti to the gantry sign over the A27 at Holmbush and have been working to address this. We've now installed locked doors and mesh to the gantry to prevent unauthorised access. However the sign face that has been substantially defaced requires replacement. Our team responsible for signs are looking into funding a replacement scheme.

Otherwise, we aim to remove or cover offensive graffiti within 24 hours of our inspection.

Non-offensive graffiti is dealt with under planned cyclical works and therefore can take longer to remove.

We will arrange for our local inspector to review the condition of the chevrons during his regular safety inspection of this route and they will arrange a suitable solution.

    Kind regards
