Abandoned road work equipment everywhere

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 00:03, Wednesday 30 April 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7501403.

Just driven along the A45 from Northampton to Wellingborough.

The amount of old abandoned metal A frames left everywhere is absolutely disgraceful. Why are your workers incapable of tidying up after themselves? You need to do a full sweep of the A45 and get every single piece of abandoned equipment collected. There are empty rotting A frames left for a number of years at various points along this road as shown on Google street view. NATIONAL HIGHWAYS YOUR LAZY AWFUL HIGHWAYS CONTRACTORS ARE A NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT. MARTINS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT, RINGWAY & CHEVRON LEAVE THEIR MESS EVERYWHERE, ALL THROUGHOUT THE ROAD NETWORK, AND YOU CONTINUE TO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT. INSTEAD YOU REWARD THEIR DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR WITH MORE AND MORE CONTRACTS. YOU ARE A DISGRACE.

This report is now closed to updates from the public. You can make a new report in the same location.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the redundant traffic management equipment. We will arrange for one of our local inspectors to investigate this. Where we have identified redundant equipment, this will be removed. However, in some cases we do leave items in place for future use. Some isolated cones may also be in place for a specific purpose that may not be clear to passing vehicles. Kind regards National Highways
