Overgrown vegetation
Reported via mobile in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 16:51, Monday 28 April 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7494095.
Trees and vegetation on the motorway embankment next to Sedley Close are overhanging people's gardens and alleyway and have been allowed to grow to the extent it now blocks the sun for large portions of the day.
During the winter dead branches fell into our garden and we have ivy hanging off the trees and now growing into our rear fence.
The tops of the trees require cutting back as does any overgrowing vegetation into people's gardens.

Thank you for your report.
We’ve a wide network of trees to manage across the south of England and are required to concentrate our efforts on customer safety and tree health within our maintainable boundaries.
Trees blocking sunlight, leaf fall, seeding or bird droppings are not included within these maintenance requirements.
For vegetation located away from the immediate carriageway, on land owned by us, we adopt a policy of allowing natural growth unless it presents a safety concern. Only dead or damaged trees, as well as vegetation identified as safety hazards, are addressed through our survey inspection and maintenance program.
As a property owner you’re legally allowed to manage vegetation that extends onto your property, and you don’t require permission from us should you choose to reduce any vegetation.
We've asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the area. If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our inspections.
Kind Regards
National Highways
