Overgrown Vegetation on Cycle Path

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 17:27, Sat 26 April 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7485659.

The Segregated Cycle Path (National Cycle Network) on the Northbound side of the A23 has a lot of brambles which have grown up to the overhanging trees and are trailing down into the path.

The problem is not with the trees but the brambles trailing down and catching the face when cycling along the path.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report.

We've inspected the location highlighted today during our weekly safety inspection of the A23 when the condition of the path ism't currently considered a safety issue.

We're commencing our cyclic routine vegetation cuts across our network when this cycle path will be attended to, though we can't offer a date at this time.

We will continue to monitor the vegetation growth and should it become a safety issue we'll arrange urgent mitigation.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
