Massive amounts of fly tipped rubbish

Reported via mobile in the Flytipping (NH) category anonymously at 15:47, Wed 2 April 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7377869.

Between Junction 1 Hinckley towards Junction 0 Coventry there is a massive amount of dumped waste and litter which is blowing into the carriageway…. A large sheet of plastic blew into my car today and atratched to the wing mirror and covered my windscreen while in lane 2 of 3. The whole near side hard shoulder is heavily littered and central reservation isn’t great either.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

We have passed your report to our local inspector who will review the issue as part of their next safety inspection and arrange any remedial action.

Littering and fly tipping by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can.

Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people. Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow.

To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
