Traffic lights

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 19:51, Fri 28 March 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7354736.

For over three weeks the m4 j15 eastbound slip road traffic lights timer has been changed. It is causing significant delays on the m4, over 1+ miles. I have seen multiple near misses in the last few weeks every morning. This morning, I timed the different between the traffic lights allowing traffic off the slip road and the traffic lights right next to it, allowing traffic off the roundabout. The traffic on the roundabout was allowed to flow for approximately 45 seconds. In comparison, the slip road traffic was only allowed a pathetic 14 seconds of green light time. There was only 1 lonely car waiting in an available three lanes of traffic compared to the 2 lanes of backed up traffic onto the motorway, which required. How is this time allotment fair? National Highways are surely aware of the issue due to the number of reports on national highways webpage. In addition, they put a sign up every morning saying '60mph or 40mph, queue ahead'. National highways, sort this out urgently before a major accident happens!
